Our story.
The name SOM OSU reflects ancient Sanskrit concepts of nourishment and care, reinterpreted for modern life.
Soma (सोम)
A term associated with nourishment, vitality, and essence, historically linked to sustenance and life force.
Aushadha (औषध)
Refers to plant-based substances and herbal nourishment, traditionally used as part of everyday care.
Together, SOM OSU reflects a grounded approach to wellness, one rooted in what sustains, rather than what overwhelms.

In a landscape crowded with extremes, trends, and quick fixes, we take a more considered path, valuing consistency over noise and clarity over excess.
Our products are crafted using carefully selected ingredients, blended with filtered water and prepared in small batches with care. Every formulation is intentional, every ingredient is clearly listed, and nothing is included without purpose.

What makes us different?
We don’t build for scale first.
Our products are prepared in small batches, allowing us to stay close to what we make, we prioritise familiarity, consistency, and long-term use over constant reinvention.
I never intended to start a wellness brand. I think, more than anything, I was trying to understand what it meant to take care of myself.
For a long time, I thought feeling better would come from changing more, doing more, becoming more disciplined, finally getting everything right. But the older I became, the more I realised that the things that brought me back to myself were rarely the complicated ones.
They were the things I could return to. Good food. Familiar rituals. Small acts of care repeated often enough that, somewhere along the way, they became a way of living.
And maybe that is what care has always been. Not a perfect life, but a relationship with yourself that you keep choosing to come back to.
Much of that understanding led me back to Sri Lanka. I became drawn to a way of living where care doesn’t always need a name or a trend attached to it. It can exist in what you eat, what you make time for, what has been passed down, and the small things you choose to do consistently.
So producing our first collection there felt natural. In a way, SOM OSU became a meeting point between two parts of my life, the traditions and ingredients that inspired me, and the very modern reality of wanting to take better care of myself while still living a full, busy life.
I wanted to create products that could exist somewhere in between. Things that feel special, but not complicated. Things you genuinely enjoy reaching for and can make a place for in your everyday life.
Because I don’t believe taking care of yourself should feel like another standard you have to live up to.
You don’t need to completely change your life to begin taking better care of yourself.
Sometimes, you just need somewhere to begin.

This blend combines edible red algae with subtle sweetness and a light strawberry note. Natural hibiscus flower extract gives the gel its distinctive red tone, creating a smooth and approachable addition to your daily routine.
